A Weekend in Montgomery

goodlife

Just returned from a long weekend in Montgomery, Texas.

When my dear friend and client, Shel Pink, invited me to come as her guest, I of course said yes. I try to say yes whenever possible. While Texas in August sounded a bit daunting weather-wise, how could it not be fun to go hang out with Shel for a weekend at a spa? In the craziness of life, I didn’t do much research, I just signed up.

Before I knew it, I was flying from a work trip in NYC to Houston, in a car to Montgomery (still not sure where that is), and arriving at Deer Lake Lodge. I was immediately whisked in for the orientation and led to the “fasting lounge.” This was the beginning of my realization that I was at a true detox spa… three full days of detox drinks, supplements, and soup… no food!! Considering I do a three-day juice cleanse monthly, I’m better equipped than most to handle a detox, but I’ll be honest, it took me a few hours to come to terms with the fact that this wasn’t a spa where I’d have my rosé with lunch. Once I settled in, it was a wonderful weekend.

The highlight for me was hearing from some amazing experts… an iridologist named Cheryl Lemoine-Kainer, a wellness consultant and spiritual healer named Zach Nasr and my favorite, an expert in conscious language named Mark Scherer.I loved learning more about the connection between our conscious words and thoughts and our sub-conscious. How the simplest nuances in our language will send positive messages to manifest our desires. I’m all about it!

All in all, I had a great time – I had a lovely time with Shel, learned a lot, detoxed my system, I had a few nights of solid, deep sleep, and I met some incredibly nice Texans!
